About the Journal

Escritos Sociológicos is an academic journal published by the Sociology Department of the School of Philosophy and Arts of the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (UANL) a public university in Monterrey, México. It is devoted to the publication and dissemination of sociological knowledge and contributions from the social sciences and related fields.

Its history is part of a broader editorial tradition that began with Cuadernillos Sociológicos in the 1970s and Bricolage in the 1980s. Escritos Sociológicos was first published in 2003 and, through 2014, released sixteen issues across two editorial periods.

In its Third Editorial Stage, the journal seeks to recover this tradition while engaging with contemporary debates in sociology and the social sciences. It welcomes original and unpublished contributions, including empirical research, theoretical discussions, methodological proposals, and critical analyses, with particular interest in social processes in Northeastern Mexico, Mexico more broadly, and Latin America.

From a plural, critical, and interdisciplinary perspective, Escritos Sociológicos aims to strengthen the circulation of knowledge, encourage dialogue among diverse theoretical and methodological approaches, and foster academic networks among researchers, faculty members, students, and scholarly communities. It also promotes the production of situated knowledge on the transformations, inequalities, and challenges facing contemporary societies.
